STANDARD SETTING INSTRUCTIONS
LIMITED WARRANTY AGAINST DEFECTS:
Citizen Watches Australia Pty Ltd ABN 14 000 496 720 (“Citizen Watches Australia”) warrants your timepiece against defects in material & workmanship for five years from the original date of purchase, subject to the Warranty Conditions stated below.
This warranty provides a limited one (1) year international warranty across all genuine Citizen Branded Watches PLUS an additional four (4) year warranty on all Citizen Branded Watches purchased from any Authorised Stockist throughout the following territories: Australia, New Zealand, Republic of South Africa and the South Pacific Islands from the original date of purchase.
An Authorised Stockist is strictly limited to any genuine retailer that has purchased the product directly from Citizen Watches Australia or from an Authorised Distributor of Citizen Watches Australia within the above-mentioned markets.
Any watch purchased from any stockist or reseller other than from the above-mentioned territories falls outside this five (5) year warranty term and therefore falls under the first one (1) year limitedinternational warranty term.
This five (5) year warranty is only recognised and honoured by Citizen Authorised Service Centres operating within the above-mentioned territories. Citizen Authorised Service Centres located in other parts of the world will only provide a warranty service under a one (1) year limitedinternational warranty, being one year from the original date of purchase.
A Citizen Branded watch is limited to any of the following:
- Citizen Eco Drive;
- Citizen Quartz;
- Citizen Promaster; and
- Citizen Automatic.
To certify that the watch you have purchased was supplied by an Authorised Stockist of Citizen Watches Australia, a genuine and numbered Warranty Card that resembles the following is included with your purchase and can be repaired by any member of the Citizen Worldwide Service Network within its associated warranty period from the original date of purchase. However, the five-year warranty remains only in the markets referred to above as the limited one-year warranty applies in all other locations.
COMPLETING YOUR WARRANTY CARD:
When completing your warranty card, the card must be filled out in its entirety with the retailer’s details and date of purchase. You will also need the Calibre/Case Number and Serial Numberwhich are located on your watch purchased and the Model Number.
Watches supplied by Citizen Watches Australia come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. This product warranty is additional to and does not exclude any other rights and/ or remedies that may exist at law.
If a watch exhibits a defect in workmanship or material that is not a major failure, Citizen will, at its option, either regulate, adjust, repair or replace any defective component(s) as necessary within a reasonable time after the watch is returned and received by an Authorised Service Centre during the warranty period.
As a condition to this warranty obligation, proof of the original purchase transaction (i.e. Proof of Purchase) or the Warranty Card filled in by the Authorised Retailer from whom the watch was purchased and must accompany the watch when presented for any warranty repair.
For a warranty repair, you must forward or present the watch to one of the Citizen Authorised Service Centres which are located in the official Citizen Watches Australia website at: Service Centres. Any service centre not listed under this site is deemed to be not a Citizen Authorised Service Centre across Australia, New Zealand, Republic of South Africa or the South Pacific and may void any warranty in place.

**PLEASE NOTE: - THE WARRANTY ON YOUR WATCH DOES NOT COVER:
(a) Any damage, accidental or otherwise, to the watch while in the possession of a consumer that was not caused by a defect in material or workmanship;
(b) Any damage caused by consumer misuse, abuse, tampering, or failure to follow the care and special handling provisions in the instructions included with the watch or online at: Citizen Global
(c) Any damage and/or scratches to the finish of the case, glass, crystals, diamonds, bracelet, strap, crown and stem or other appearance parts caused by general wear, accidental damage and/ or user misuse.
(d) Any damage caused to or by the power cell when it is replaced by a Non-Citizen Authorised Service Centre;
(e) Any damage caused by the consumer's failure to have their watch serviced, at the consumer's expense, in accordance with the following schedule of regular maintenance:
(i) For Quartz Watches: The power cell (battery) must be replaced immediately when power is lost;
(ii) Water resistant watches must be tested and resealed every three years and must be tested anytime a power cell (battery) is replaced, whichever comes first;
(f) Any power cell (battery) in the case of a quartz watch; and
(g) Damage caused by repairs or alterations to the watch by anyone other than a Citizen Authorised Service Centre.
45 DAY GUARANTEE:
For watches received by Citizen Watches Australia or by an Authorised Service Centre of Citizen Watches Australia that are within the warranty period, Citizen commits to repair the watch within 45 working days which commences from the time of receipt of your watch at a Citizen Authorised Service Centre. If this is not possible, Citizen Watches Australia will offer to replace the watch or provide a substitute watch to the same value.
NON-WARRANTY REPAIRS:
For watches received that are deemed to be outside of the warranty period or outside our warranty terms, Citizen Watches Australia or an Authorised Service Centre of Citizen Watches Australia will provide a quotation for the repair works required. Upon your acceptance of the final quotation, the repair process will commence with the aim of completing the repair as soon as practically possible, but is strictly contingent on parts availability.
EXCLUSIONS:
Except for any implied conditions, warranties and guarantees that by law may not be excluded, Citizen Watches Australia excludes all liability under this warranty. To the extent permitted by law, Citizen Watches Australia disclaims any liability for consequential or incidental damages and in no event shall Citizen Watches Australia liability exceed the retail value of the watch.
Without limitation to any other provision in this warranty, Citizen Watches Australia limits its liability under sections 64a and 276a of the Australian Consumer Law to any one or more of the following in its sole discretion;
- In the case of any good, the replacement or repair of the good, or the supply of equivalent goods, or the payment of the cost of replacing or repairing the goods or acquiring equivalent goods;
- In the case of any service, the supply of the services again, or the payment of the cost of having the services supplied again.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Please note the following:
- Citizen Watches Australia or its Authorised Service Centres reserve the right to charge you for postage, insurance and any other associated costs as may be incurred outside the normal repair costs under the guarantee; and
- For those customers requiring their watch to be repaired in countries other than those where the purchase was originally made, repair services are available though it is to be acknowledged that it might take somewhat longer than normal and by default the 45 Day Guarantee becomes invalid and relinquished by you.
- The power cell (battery) in Quartz watches is a service power cell (battery) inserted before shipment of the watch from the country of origin and there may be cases where the life of the power cell (battery) is shorter than that specified in the instruction manual.
- Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
